Roberto Andorno is an Associate Professor of Bioethics and Medical Law at the School of Law of the University of Zurich, Switzerland, and a Research Fellow at the Institute of Biomedical Ethics of that same University. Originally from Argentina, he completed a first doctoral degree in law at the University of Buenos Aires (1991) and a second doctoral degree in law at the University of Paris-Est Créteil (1994), both on topics related to the ethical and legal aspects of assisted reproduction. From 1998 to 2005 he served as a member of the International Bioethics Committee of UNESCO as representative of Argentina, and participated in this capacity in the drafting of the International Declaration of Human Genetic Data (2003) and of the Universal Declaration on Bioethics and Human Rights (2005). During the same years, he conducted various research projects relating to bioethics and human rights at the Faculty of Philosophy of Laval University (Canada), at the University of Göttingen as a Humboldt-Foundation Fellow, and at the University of Tübingen (Germany). He has published extensively on issues relating to bioethics and law, most notably Principles of international biolaw (Brussels, Bruylant, 2013).
