Kohki Abe is Professor of International Law at Kanagawa University School of Law in Yokohama, Japan, where he served as Dean until 2008. He obtained an LL.M from the University of Virginia School of Law in USA. Subsequently, he obtained his doctoral degree from Waseda University in Japan and was a visiting scholar at the Centre for Refugee Studies in York University, Canada. Former President of Japanese Society of International Human Rights Law, Japan Peace Studies Association and Tokyo-based international NGO Human Rights Now, he currently chairs the Human Rights Council of Kawasaki Municipal Government and is a Refugee Examination Counselor for the Minister of Justice, Japan.
