Pierre Thielbörger is managing director of the Institute for International Law of Peace and Armed Conflict of the Ruhr University Bochum. He completed his legal studies at the Universities of Hamburg, McGill and Humboldt. He obtained his Master of Public Policy at Harvard University (Kennedy School of Government). In 2010 he obtained his PhD in International Law from the European University Institute with a dissertation on, “The Human Right to Water”.

His areas of research include public international law, international law of peace and armed conflict, human rights law, German constitutional law and climate change in law and governance.
